Nigerian Army kills 15 Boko Haram terrorists, recover weapons

The Nigerian Army has confirmed that one of its men was injured as its troops clashed with members of the Boko Haram terrorist group in the Arege area of Borno state.
The spokesperson of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Texas Chukwu, said troops of the 7 Brigade, Sector 3 of the Multinational Joint Task Force, clashed with the insurgents.
According to the statement, 15 of the Boko Haram terrorists were killed during the encounter while some fled into the bush with gunshot wounds.
The statement said efforts were being intensified by the troops to arrest the fleeing members of the Boko Haram.
The statement listed some of the recovered items to include one anti-aircraft gun, five AK 47 rifles and one light machine gun.
“Unfortunately, one soldier was injured and is currently receiving attention at the military medical facility,” the statement said urging the public to be watchful.
Insideupdate earlier reported that it was a day of joy as over 2000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of Guzamala extraction living in Bakassi IDP Camp in Maiduguri on Tuesday, June 19, commenced movement to return to their original homeland in Guzamala local government area of Borno state.
Colonel Onyema Nwachukwu, the deputy director of public relations, Theatre Command operation Lafiya Dole, made this known in a statement.
The IDPs numbering about 2,043 individuals, making up 378 households constitute the first batch of IDPs who willingly expressed the desire to return to their communities to resettle and resume their traditional occupation of farming and fishing, as well as other socio-economic activities.
